A big Welcome to a 2017 exciting programme of music and fine entertainment to all our club goers no snow or rotten weather yet….so no excuses in not coming out and supporting local live music,As usual we try and provide our music loving public a variety of different performers embracing many styles and genres, and this year will be no exception
A big thank you to all the local and regular musicians who have supported the club during 2016 once again this last year has been a great success and we have some fab guests especially Paul Downes supported by the fantastic Dangerous Curves all the way from Canade the brilliant My Sweet Patootie, Jim Watts,John Middleton as featured artists and our Young Voices in Music special guest Rynand of course a very memorable Brookes Williams Xmas Special .ALSO a big huzzah for those who turned out in January for the theme night, which celebrated the musical skillage of Val Doonican who passed away that year…many a fine jumper was worn…we also raised £18 in rememberance of a local musician Jim Howden who died in 2015..the money will be donated to the charity that cared for him…thankyou all for your contributions
HOT OFF THE PRESS…..The Boys from Melbourne Street have just released their fourth and latest CD “Ship of Fools” available at the club for £10 (still )
JANUARY 11th was our Theme night which was songs over 100 year old…jolly well done to all those performers who took the time to learn something that they would not normally do…we were looking forward to one of Jerry’s renditions but in order to avoid learning a new tune he threw himself onto the floor and broke his hip…happily he is on the mind and he is now know as titanium Jerry

APRIL 12th NOT TO BE MISSED…. OKA VANGA.…Angela Meyer & William Cox are an award winning folk and roots husband and wife duo, who move effortlessly from playing their own songs to well-known folk and roots songs. Exquisite instrumentals are combined with songs to make their music set both varied and interesting, with contributions from Will on both Ukelele and Mandolin. A recent collaboration has also seen the addition of Oliver Copeland on Double Bass, which has brought a whole new dimension to their music and live set. Fans of both Folk and Roots music are sure to find something they will enjoy in their music!
2016 has also seen Angie and Will collaborating with Patsy Reid (fiddle and Viola) for the recording of a new Oka Vanga album, ‘Dance of the Copper Trail’. Due out in Spring 2017, it is recorded and produced by Mark Tucker (best known for his work with ‘Show of Hands’ and Philip Henry and Hannah Martin) and it promises to be just as good as their last album ‘Pilgrim’ which won FATEA instrumental album of the Year in 2015.
